Take Action Now! Chinese Dog Eating Festival Starts In Just 3 Months

WARNING! Graphic content: The annual Yulin Dog Meat Festival is right around the corner, despite years of protests the festival is still going on. If you are unfamiliar with the festival, thousands of dogs and cats are murdered and eaten. Last year around 10,000 dogs and cats were used during the 10-day festival, which takes place in Guangxi Zhuang autonomous region in the South-East of the country.

Vendors of the dog meat say the animals are killed in a humane way, but those who oppose the event say dogs are caged with other animals and are either skinned alive or bludgeoned to death in public before being turned into meat and sold on the street. There have been reports of seeing caged dogs wearing collars, suggested they might be stolen pets.

According to Daily Petition: “Each year, over 10, 000 dogs are brought from all over the country to Yulin, specifically for this event – most of them stray animals or stolen pets. Many dogs do not survive the grueling and exhausting trip, as they are crammed in trucks, barely able to breathe. They are left without food and water for days and often end up with broken limbs.

For the dogs that are still alive upon arrival, the nightmare has only just started to unfold: man's best friend is crammed in cages and put on display in public markets or on the side of the road – this is done so customers can choose what dog they would like to eat, to ensure the freshness of the meat. After the dogs have been chosen by customers, they are either roasted or boiled alive.

The local government has promised year after year to take action against this inhumane event. However, nothing has been done. If action is not taken immediately, thousand of innocent dogs will be sacrificed in the name of culinary tradition come June. Over the past few years, more and more activists have been on festival grounds, trying to buy as many dogs as possible from vendors and saving their lives.

Unfortunately, without an intervention from the authorities, they will never be able to save all the dogs. Please sign my petition and help stop the 2017 edition of the Yulin dog meat festival. Dogs are family, not food and we demand that their lives are spared.” Let's take action now! To sign the petition click here.
